A few weeks ago, our team joined a few thousand of our friends at the GIE+Expo (now Equip Exposition) in Louisville, Kentucky. GIE is heralded as the largest outdoor power equipment event in the nation. We look forward to it every year because it gives us a chance to chat with customers, touch base with dealers, and get a look at the competition. It’s also a great place to showcase new equipment.
This year, under the bright lights in the expansive Hustler Turf booth, we debuted three new zero-turn mowers (available in 2022) – the Surfer Pro, Super SF, and the all-electric Zevo residential mower. We also introduced an updated version of our popular commercial model, the FasTrak.
In case you missed the show, we’re going to introduce each product over the next few weeks and do a deep dive on what makes it special. First up is the latest mower in our stand-on family, the Surfer Pro.
Stacked and compact, the Surfer Pro has an overall length of 58.9 inches, smaller than a traditional sit-down zero-turn mower and perfect for trimming, navigating tight spaces, and accessing gated backyards. We built the Surfer Pro with the professional landscape contractor in mind but it’s completely suitable for the residential homeowner who wants to live that stand-on mower life.
Surfer Pro is slim in stature but don’t ever call it petite. Surfer Pro is built with our signature heavy duty steel decking (7 gauge on the 34" deck, 11 gauge on the 48"). Impact areas are reinforced with 3/8 inch x 1 inch steel. In addition, we added 18” BigBite™ drive tires for stability and traction. Both Surfer Pro models come equipped with Kawasaki 15 hp FS series engines.
The Surfer Pro has a 2-gallon fuel capacity with speeds up to 6 mph. As a contractor, this is the machine you want to do quick light work in tight spaces, or cover ground at gated properties. Increase efficiency and reduce employee fatigue by using the Surfer Pro to replace a basic walk-behind or self-propelled push mower. Surfer Pro’s smaller footprint means it will fit easily on a standard commercial trailer or even in a backyard shed.
At our demo booth at GIE, the Surfer Pro received a lot of attention from contractors who said its handling and maneuverability were a welcome surprise for such a sturdy machine.
